Edusentro | For student leaders, the Department of Education offers virtual leadership and character building instruction | 21st of May, 2021 — The Department of Education (DepEd) will initiate a virtual leadership and character building training for Supreme Student Government officials to better equip them as student leaders in a distance learning environment.
The virtual training, which is based on the Department’s mission, vision, and core values, aims to empower young student leaders by honing their leadership skills and character.
“[My challenge to student leaders is to] listen to one another with an open mind.” ‘Yun ang task ko, you listen to us and we listen to you, and we will make decisions together,’ said Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis-Briones.
The virtual sessions, which will be led by the Bureau of Learning Support Service-Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD), will begin on May 21, 2021, and will last until June 11, 2021. Every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., a two-hour training will be conducted. A different resource speaker will be included in each session.
DepEd aims to develop the leadership awareness, skills, and attitudes of SSG leaders through a series of webinars focused on the principles of good governance, volunteerism, unity, and cooperation.
Personality and Character Development will also be covered during the simulated training, with the aim of educating student leaders about the correct attitude and character characteristics that will help them lead their peers.
